Edward is an artificial man, the unfinished creation of an eccentric inventor who temporarily fitted Edward with long, scissor-like hands, that while able to trim a mean hedge, are hardly conducive to everyday life. His inventor suddenly dies, leaving Edward lonely and still with his temporary scissor hands.
